TAGUM, Davao—Holy Eucharistic celebrations involving mass gathering are still prohibited during General Community Quarantine in a Circular Letter announced Friday, May 15, by Tagum Diocese Chancellor Rev. Fr. Vince Arado.
Father Arado stated that 'Sine Populo' or Mass Without the People is still observed according to Circular Letter No. 01-2020 by Most Rev. Medil S. Aseo, Bishop of Tagum.
"Let us continue in the spirit of devotion especially in offering the Holy Rosary," Arado said. "If possible, we will be united in the Holy Mass through livestream."
Bishop Aseo encouraged parishes to follow health standards such as imposing hand washing, thermal scanning, and stepping on foot baths when entering the rectory, church, or compound.
Lay people were also requested to help provide for their parish's needs due to temporary church closure caused by COVID-19.
"Please bring your mass intentions to the parish office to be offered during Holy Mass even without the person concerned," Arado mentioned.
Father Arado urged everyone to obey the rules set by the local government for the good and benefit of the people.
Tagum City Mayor Allan L. Rellon recently released Executive Order 2020–45 enclosing General Community Quarantine guidelines in the City of Tagum effective immediately starting Saturday, May 16.
